Diocesan Assembly Begins Today
image
The Assembly of the Diocese of New York and New Jersey begins today -- November 9, 2010 --at Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral in New York City.  His Grace, Bishop +Michael, will preside as priests, deacons, and laity will gather from throughout the diocese as delegates to the annual assembly to prayerfully consider and plan for the “good estate” of the Church.

Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral in New York City has been a magnificent temple for the glorification of the Lord during the history of the Orthodox Church in America, and in the life of the Diocese of New York and New Jersey.  It has been the Cathedral Church of Metropolitans and Bishops, the home to administrative offices, and the setting for several “Sobors” (Assemblies/Councils) of the Church.  It is significant and fitting that the new Shepherd and Archpastor of the diocese -- His Grace, Bishop +Michael – will preside for the first time as Bishop over an Assembly at this historic cathedral.

The agenda and all essential documents/reports of the Assembly are available in the special Diocesan Assembly section of this webpage.

All of the faithful of the diocese are asked to remember those gathering at the Assembly in their prayers and supplications.

A news report and photos of the Diocesan Assembly will be posted on this website soon.
