On January 12th, the faithful from Saints Peter and Paul Parish of Syracuse gathered at St. Andrew’s Camp for the fourth annual blessing of Lake Oneida, an inspiring tradition that now includes the second annual cross plunge.
This joyful event began with the Great Blessing of Waters, followed by an exciting cross plunge with two divisions: youth and adult. Approximately fifteen participants braved the icy waters, diving in to retrieve the cross. In a cherished tradition, the winner of the cross plunge takes the cross home for the year, a symbol of both triumph and blessing.
After the event, attendees warmed up with a delicious dinner in the Camp Dining Hall, sharing fellowship and reflecting on the day’s festivities.
The blessing of Lake Oneida has become a cherished tradition, drawing participants and spectators together in celebration of faith and community. Mark your calendars and join us next year for another unforgettable experience at St. Andrew’s Camp!
