Operation: Spring Valley – A Diocesan Call to Action
image

His Eminence Archbishop Michael has announced Operation: Spring Valley – a diocesan-wide volunteer effort to support St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Spring Valley, NY. All are invited to lend a helping hand on Saturday, August 2 and Saturday, August 9, as we come together to assist one of our Diocese’s most historic communities.

Founded over a century ago, St. John the Baptist Church celebrated its 110th Anniversary in 2024 and remains a steadfast witness to our Orthodox Christian faith. In recent years, however, the need for repairs and improvements to the church, rectory, and parish grounds has become urgent.

While a professional contractor has been hired for the more complex renovations, much of the work can be accomplished by volunteers from across the Diocese. This is a chance to join fellow parishioners in a labor of love—strengthening our bonds and supporting the renewal of a cherished parish.

Volunteer Days: August 2 & August 9

Time: Beginning at 9:00 AM
Location: St. John the Baptist Church, 64 West Church Street, Spring Valley, NY

Planned Tasks Include:

  • Painting and washing walls

  • Repairing and replacing window and door frames

  • Floor cleaning

  • Caulking and sealing surfaces

  • General cleanup inside and outside both church and rectory

  • Other small repair and maintenance tasks
