🎶 Making Melodists: A Conference for Orthodox Christian Musicians

We invite all Orthodox Christian musicians—conductors, singers, and music enthusiasts—to join us for “Making Melodists,” a dynamic two-day conference focused on deepening the skills and spiritual tools of those who serve in the music ministry of the Church.

🎙 Featuring Guest Clinician:
Juliana Woodill
Conductor and Artistic Director of the Archdiocesan Choir of Washington, D.C., Orthodox Church in America

Juliana brings a wealth of experience as a choral director and educator. A graduate of Westminster Choir College, she has presented widely on vocal technique, sound building, and conducting, and currently teaches at Fairfax High School in Virginia while directing music at All Saints of America Orthodox Church in Alexandria.

🔍 Workshop Topics Include:

Friday – Conductors’ Round Table:

  • The Art of Non-Verbal Communication: Gestural Language for Conductors

  • Physical Techniques for Conducting: Exercises to Avoid “Post-Liturgy Soreness”

  • Open Forum: Leadership Challenges in Orthodox Music Ministry

Saturday – General Workshop:

  • Vocal Warm-Ups for Church Choirs

  • Using the Body as an Instrument: Physical & Vocal Technique

  • Learning and Teaching New Music

  • Improving Choral Sound and Tone

  • Addressing Intonation Challenges

Light meals will be served both days. The event is free for all participants.
