The parish of Holy Trinity Church in Elmira Heights, NY welcomed His Eminence, Archbishop Michael for an archpastoral visit on the weekend of October 11-12.
Archbishop Michael presided over Great Vespers on Saturday, served by parish rector Archpriest David Cowan and Deacon Michael Karney, assisted by several altar servers. Afterward, the Archbishop shared dinner with the Parish Council, where both Vladyka and the Council discussed the state of the parish and reflected on the growth of the Orthodox Church in our country.
On Sunday, October 12, His Eminence served the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and gave the homily. Four Subdeacons and many Altar Servers assisted at the Liturgy. During the service, Vladyka presented Fr. David with the award of the Jeweled Cross.
At the Liturgy’s conclusion, the Archbishop presented Reader William Haluszczak and Antonia Weeks with Diocesan Gramotas for their years of faithful labor for the parish. Vladyka also presented Matushka Tamara Cowan with a Diocesan Gramota for her work as Director of the Diocesan Department of Education, on the occasion of her retirement from that position.
In celebration of Archbishop Michael's visit, as well as the recognition bestowed on Father David, a generous Fellowship Hour luncheon was hosted by parishioners. The parish presented the Archbishop with a donation to the Distinguished Diocesan Benefactors Fund (DDB). Father David and Parish Council Warden Dr. Denis Kingsley offered words of gratitude and joy at the growth that Holy Trinity Church has been enjoying over the past several years.
May God continue to bless Archbishop Michael, the clergy and faithful of Holy Trinity Church, and all the members of our beloved Diocese!
