DEEPEST SYMPATHY is expressed to Matushka Tamara Skvir and her children and grandchildren on the falling asleep in the Lord of her beloved husband and their father and grandfather, and our brother priest, + The Mitred Archpriest Daniel Skvir, who fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday evening, March 23, at their home in Pennington, New Jersey, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Father Dan was the recently-retired Chaplain of the Orthodox Chapel of the Transfiguration for the Orthodox Christian Fellowship at Princeton University, the Chairman of the Diocesan Music Commission, and a confidante and advisor to His Eminence, Archbishop Michael. At the most recent meeting of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America, held March 18–20 at the OCA Chancery in Springfield, Virginia, Father Daniel was awarded the priestly mitre for his decades of outstanding service to Christ and His Holy Church as a long-time deacon and priest. We will all deeply miss his loving leadership.
