Archbishop Michael Makes First Archpastoral Visit to St. John the Soldier Mission in Watertown, NY

[Norwood, NY] - His Eminence, Archbishop Michael of New York, made his first archpastoral visit to St. John the Soldier Mission Station on Saturday, July 26, 2025. His Eminence celebrated the Divine Liturgy with Father Gregory Fedorchak of St. Olympia Orthodox Mission in Norwood, NY. After Liturgy, Archbishop Michael joined the community for a potluck meal and fellowship. Archbishop Michael departed the North Country to visit the diocese’s southernmost parish in Mays Landing, NJ, the Church of the Mother of God.

Saint John the Soldier Orthodox Mission Station is a mission of the Diocese of New York and New Jersey of the Orthodox Church in America. Founded in September of 2022, it held its first Liturgy in November 2024. Located on the rooftop of New York, not far from the Canadian border near the Thousand Islands, we serve the City of Watertown and Fort Drum, home to the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division, and the wider Jefferson County and northern Lewis County, New York. We offer readers’ services for Vespers, Hours, and Typica every Sunday and on major feast days.
