St. Olga’s Closet is a newly founded organization which provides assistance to seminarians of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary and their families in the way of material goods for daily subsistence, such as clothing, baby supplies, housewares, as well as emergency funds and other incidental necessities.
The Closet is named for St. Olga of Kwethluk, Wonderworker and Matushka of All Alaska, who gave warm clothes, boots, socks, and gloves to others. She told her children not to say anything if they saw other children wearing clothes that had once been theirs. Her selfless, Christ-like spirit was inspiring and infectious: About ten percent of her village became seminarians at St. Herman's Orthodox Theological Seminary in Kodiak, Alaska, during her lifetime.
A vacant building 5 miles from St. Tikhon’s Seminary is being acquired to serve as the location for goods to be brought and distributed. Saint Olga’s Closet will be open on November 22, December 6, December 13, every third Saturday in spring 2026, and by appointment. The address of the building will be announced soon.
For more information, and especially if you wish to make donations of goods to St. Olga’s Closet, please email stolgascloset@gmail.com; or call 240-606-3398. Follow St. Olga’s Closet on Facebook by clicking here.
