[Brooklyn, NY] - On January 6–7, in celebration of the Nativity of Christ (Julian Calendar), Archbishop Michael led the festal services at Transfiguration Cathedral in Brooklyn.

On the evening of January 6, His Eminence presided at the All-Night Vigil, concelebrated by the cathedral’s rector, Archpriest Wiaczeslaw Krawczuk, together with Archpriest Alxey Karlgut, Archpriest Vasyl Yurina, Archpriest Daniel Degyansky, and Protodeacon Paul Sokol. Subdeacon Mark Federoff and Subdeacon Andrew Karlgut assisted the bishop, along with the cathedral’s altar servers.

On January 7, Archbishop Michael presided at the Divine Liturgy, concelebrated by Archpriest Wiaczeslaw Krawczuk, Archpriest Alxey Karlgut, Archpriest Volodymyr Zablotskyy, Archpriest Vasyl Yurina, and Protodeacon Paul Sokol. Archpriest Daniel Degyansky prayed and heard confessions during the service.

The festal services were sung by a combined choir under the direction of Elena Kocheleva.

In recognition of the 40th anniversary of his priestly ordination and 25 years of service as Dean of Brooklyn, Archbishop Michael presented Archpriest Wiaczeslaw Krawczuk with two gramotas: one from the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church in America and one from the Diocese of New York and New Jersey.

During the Divine Liturgy, Dimitri Subbotin, an altar server of the cathedral, was granted the right to wear a cassock.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a festive Christmas dinner was held, after which those gathered enjoyed a short concert in the cathedral’s refectory hall.
