On Sunday, September 19, Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church in Whitestone NY held its first "After Liturgy Parish Brunch."  The meal was preceded by the Sunday Divine Liturgy attended by a full congregation, and celebrated by Father Joseph Woodill.  On August 1st of this year, Father Joseph and Matushka Charlotte Woodill arrived at Saint Nicholas Parish having been reassigned from Washington DC.

"After Liturgy Parish Brunch" will be held each month, presenting an opportunity for fun, fellowship and very fine food.  Subdeacon Ken Linn (who usually serves as choir director) served as Head Chief at the first brunch.  The menu was a "guaranteed-made-from-scratch" meal.  Everything from the salad greens with special "house" dressing, to the meat entree with secret sauce, and mashed potatoes ... to the peach cobbler ... was cut, diced, and prepared by church members from fresh produce.  The Church Hall was full for the event!  Monetary proceeds from the brunch went to the parish fund, and the good will and fellowship generated was freely distributed to the crowd in attendance.  Nobody went home hungry!

Saint Nicholas is an English-language parish in a residential area of Northern Queens (Whitestone). Sunday morning worship is at 10 a.m. and Vespers on Saturday is at 5 p.m.   Visitors are always welcome to "Come and serve the Lord with us."
