On Monday, February 12, 2007, the Diocesan Council met at Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Jersey City, NJ.

Summary

Congratulations were extended and flowers sent to His Beatitude on the occasion of his 75th birthday.

Condolence and flowers were sent to the Matushka Koblosh and Matushka Parsells on the occasion of the falling-asleep of their father, +John Barsigian.

The council reviewed the minutes of the Diocesan Assembly and approved minutes of the previous Diocesan Council Meeting. A summary of these will be posted on the diocesan web site; the minutes are subject to approval prior to posting.

Reports were received from the chancellor, deans, treasurer, and Metropolitan Council representative.

A finance committee was formed to obtain an accountant to do an outside audit of the 2006 financials.

A stipend of $2,000 is to be distributed to each of the three seminaries of the Orthodox Church in America for distribution to needy students.

By-Laws are to be compiled to reflect the structure and operation of the Diocese of Washington and New York.

The next Diocesan Assembly will be on November 5, 2007 at Saints Peter and Paul Church, South River, NJ.

In conjunction with the Assembly discussion ensued on the possibility of the two-day Assembly. His Beatitude, the chancellor, deans, and Father Alexis Vinogradov will meet to discuss this.

A Diocesan Youth Rally for July 2008 was discussed and is to be developed.

Aid for the Diocesan Missions is being distributed as planned.
