The Orthodox Christian Church of the Holy Transfiguration in Pearl River NY celebrated the Holy Mystery of Unction with Bishop Michael and 6 concelebrating priests on Tuesday evening, 8 April 2014. In his homily, His Grace expounded on the image of our Lord Jesus Christ as Healer with the theme: “By His stripes we are healed” and the Church as the place of healing. This was the 7th annual celebration with a full complement of 7 priests serving. It is a tradition well received and joyfully anticipated by parishioners as well as the invited clergy and faithful from the region.
Igumen Joseph welcomed Bishop Michael, the gathering of priests, and many Orthodox faithful visitors, inviting all to a repast in the parish hall hosted by the Starosta, Boris Maltsev, and parishioners.
