Feast-Day Celebration - 08/16/11
On the patronal feast of Christ the Savior Church in Paramus NJ, Bishop Michael celebrated the Divine Liturgy on Tuesday, 16 August. Assisting His Grace in the altar were Archpriest John Nehrebecki (pastor emeritus) and Archpriest Joseph Frawley (chaplain at West Point Military Academy). Archpriest David Vernak (parish rector) only communed due to his rehabilitation following a double knee replacement. The senior warden of the Parish, Reader David Maliniak, and Alexander Vlachos served as acolytes. The entire congregation communed and the choir was under the direction of Mrs. Theodora Gramkow. In his sermon, His Grace emphasized our personal commitment to Christ the Savior. After venerating the feast-day icon and epitaphion of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, everyone enjoyed a festive agape meal. Approximately 50 faithful enjoyed the fellowship and food.(14 images)
