Fall Harvest Fest
Watervliet NY
Saint Basil’s Orthodox Church in Watervliet (Maplewood) NY held its inaugural “Fall Harvest Fest” on Saturday, 20 October. The day’s activities were centered on the life of the church. Established 110 years ago, the parish welcomed guests and friends to tours of the church conducted by Father Peter Olsen (parish rector). “The Fall Fest accomplished its objective of bringing not only the faithful to the event but also afforded many local residents a casual manner of seeing and understanding Saint Basil’s Orthodox Church,” said parishioner Bill Rentz, “and to enjoy fellowship from all.”
In addition to traditional ethnic foods, home made baked goods, items from local vendors, and a white elephant sale, the parish bookstore also offered religious articles and books related to Orthodoxy.
