On Saturday, 13 June 2015,  sixty-seven participants from several New Jersey parishes met for the annual “Run/Walk for the Church” to run and walk together on a course beginning and ending at Saints Peter & Paul Church in South River NJ. Participants enjoyed fellowship with each other, Archbishop Michael, and the Mayor of South River NJ, while celebrating the 20th anniversary of the annual “Run/Walk for the Church.” Similarly, Saint Andrew’s camp hosts an annual “Bike Ride” fund raiser, scheduled for 22 August 2015.  See the event details in the “Upcoming Events” section of this website!

Over the past 20 years, participation in the New Jersey event has raised over $40,000 for the parish at South River alone. Other New Jersey parishes faithfully participated in this event for many years raising monies for their respective parishes. Runners completed a course of 9 miles and walkers completed a course of 5 miles. Participants returning to the parish of South River were escorted by local police and greeted with a picnic prepared by parishioners. A special commemorative 20th anniversary t-shirt was presented to all.

“Run/Walk for the Church” has served as both a successful fellowship and fundraising platform in which participants have been sponsored for a fee or a donation to support each participating parish.
