Very early Sunday morning, 25 January, Bishop Michael stepped off a “red-eye” flight from California and proceeded directly to Randolph NJ and Holy Trinity Church for a full day of activities. A primary purpose of his visit was to award an honorary Gold Cross to the parish rector, Father David R. Fox. In recognition of faithful and dedicated service, all present echoed “Axios!” (he is worthy!) as this priestly distinction was conferred upon Father David. A fellowship luncheon followed the celebration of a joyful Hierarchical Divine Liturgy.
Before the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, His Grace celebrated the Sacrament of Chrismation as Mark and Gina Bradish were welcomed into the Orthodox Church by anointing with Holy Chrism. After the Liturgy six new kiosks, framing holy icons on the inner pillars of the church, were blessed. Bishop Michael then enjoyed a luncheon with the faithful in the newly renovated “Founders Hall” where he presented a photo review of his 2014 trip to the Holy Land. “Many years,” said Carol Wetmore on behalf of all present, “to our tireless Hierarch!”
Celebrating the Hierarchical Liturgy with His Grace and Father David were: Father George Hasenecz, Proto-Deacon John Morvay, and Sub-Deacons Nilus Klingel and Mark Federoff.
