After the official greeting by Archpriest Gary Breton, Dean of the New Jersey Deanery, His Eminence expressed his profound joy at being able to share this celebration with clergy and faithful from The Orthodox Church in America, The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, The American Carpatho-Russian Diocese of North America, The Moscow Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, as well as The Serbian Orthodox Church.

Under the direction of Subdeacon Stratos Mandalakis, the responses were sung by The Spirit of Orthodoxy Choir, an interjurisdictional choir comprised of singers from throughout the New York and New Jersey areas.

After an inspirational homily by His Eminence, the service concluded with the procession of holy icons, and a thunderous recitation of the Synodikon and Nicene Creed by the clergy and faithful. His Eminence extended his deepest gratitude to the parishioners of Holy Resurrection Parish for hosting the celebration and to everyone in attendance.

This year’s Sunday of Orthodoxy Vespers served as an official “kickoff” for the newly formed Inter-Parish Association of Northern New Jersey, which was initiated and blessed by the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America. IPA Associations promote communication, camaraderie, and cooperation across Orthodox Christian parishes of all jurisdictions in a given geographical area. They are local (ie. the city/town level) and include both clergy and laity. The purpose of an IPA is to break down barriers across Orthodox Christian jurisdictions, and as unified Orthodox Christian witness, share Christ’s love in the community at large.

The faithful enjoyed a delicious Lenten supper and fellowship provided by the parishioners of our Holy Resurrection parish. We give thanks to our Lord that we were able to come together in celebration of our FAITH WHICH HAS ESTABLISHED THE UNIVERSE! GLORY TO GOD FOR ALL THINGS!
