On Sunday, 25 May 2014, Bishop Michael made an archpastoral visit to Holy Trinity Church in Yonkers NY. During the visit, at the request and on behalf of His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon (Orthodox Church in America), His Grace ordained Deacon Kyle Parrott to the Holy Priesthood. Father Kyle is from the Archdiocese of Canada and is a graduating senior at Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary (Crestwood NY). He has spent the past academic year serving as a pastoral intern in the Yonkers parish.
Also serving with Bishop Michael were: Father David Cowan (Rector); Father Chad Hatfield (Chancellor, Saint Vladimir's Seminary); and Protodeacon John Eby.
Father Kyle’s family, Matushka Leanne and their daughter Sophia, joined many friends, faculty members, and classmates in the resounding response of “Axios! Axios! Axios!” for the newly ordained priest. At a festive luncheon following the Divine Liturgy, Father Cowan and Dr. Victoria Statkevicus (Parish Council President) presented gifts to Father Kyle in gratitude for his contributions to the life of the parish; and the faithful were able to spend time visiting with Bishop Michael.
May God grant Father Kyle and his family “Many Blessed Years!”
