"Open Forums" on OCA Strategic Plan in New Jersey Deanery

"Open Forums" for the clergy and laity of the New Jersey Deanery of the diocese were convened on Tuesday, September 14th,  at Saints Peter and Paul Church in South River NJ.  The purpose of the gatherings was to offer an open opportunity to share thoughts, reflections, and concerns  regarding the “Working Draft of a Strategic Plan for the Orthodox Church in America" [OCA] -- prepared by the Strategic Planning Committee of the OCA's Metropolitan Council.  His Grace, Bishop +Michael -- who had called for such gatherings to be held in each of the three diocesan deaneries in advance of the upcoming Diocesan Assembly in November -- was in attendance for the forums
 
Clergy of the New Jersey Deanery met in "Open Forum" from 3:00 - 5:00 pm.  They were joined by the laity at 7:00 pm. for the continuation of "Open Forum" discussions.
 
Two members of the Strategic Planning Committee -- Archpriest Eric Tosi (OCA Secretary) and Archpriest Alexis Vinogradov (Diocesan Representative to the Metropolitan Council) --  made presentations at both gatherings.  They responded to questions, received feedback, and made note of comments that will be brought back to the Committee as the on-going work of developing the Strategic Plan moves forward.  A significant amount of input from those gathered regarding both the document itself and the state of the Church ... past, present, and future ... was offered.
 
The New York City Deanery will gather in "Open Forum" on Monday, October 11th at Woodside NY.
 
The New York State Deanery will gather in "Open Forum" on Thursday, October  21st at Cohoes NY.
