New York City: Akathist to the Mother of God, "Healer of Cancer"

On Friday, October 22nd, an Akathist before the Icon of the Mother of God, "Healer of Cancer," was served at the Cathedral of the Holy Virgin Protection, New York NY. Leading the service were Bishop +Michael of New York and Bishop +Jerome of Manhattan (Russian Church Abroad).The Akathist was sung by the Synodal Choir of the Cathedral of the Mother of God of the Sign (Russian Church Abroad) under the direction Peter Fekula. The musical arrangement for the singing of the Akathist was composed by Reader Robert Sirico of Saint John the Theologian Church in Shirley NY, in memory of his wife Elizabeth who fell-asleep in the Lord due to cancer in 2009.
