
You are invited to join our diocesan priest Father Ilya Gotlinsky and parishioners of the Dormition Parish in Binghamton NY on a pilgrimage to Asia Minor on October 16-31. The pilgrimage to will cover very extensive territory. It will start in the South-Eastern region by visiting the remains of Ancient city of Antioch where followers of Christ were first called “Christians.” From there, via the Monastery of Saint Simeon "the younger stylite" it will proceed to the birth place of Saint Paul the Apostle in Tarsus and travel to the hauntingly beautiful region of Cappadocia. From there it will make its way south to the towns associated with Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, visiting along the way archeological parks of Aspendos and Perge that are ancient cities visted by the Apostles. After Myra in Lycia, it will visit ancient Hierapolis on route to Ephesus where the Virgin Mary lived in the house of the Apostle John. Then, the tour will visit the exile place of Saint John the Evangelist and the “Revelation Cave” on the island of Patmos. The pilgrimage will end in the Royal city of Constantinople, the capital of the mighty Byzantine Empire for over millennia.
