Bishop Michael served, preached, and encouraged the faithful of Saint Nicholas Church in Whitestone NY at Saturday evening Vespers, Sunday morning Liturgy, and a Sunday afternoon Deanery Vespers service on the 4th Sunday of Great Lent, 30 March 2014. The faithful presented His Grace with a contribution to the Distinguished Diocesan Benefactors [DDB] program, given to assure Bishop Michael that they have heard his plea for a more Christian means of supporting the vital work of the Church.
After Sunday worship His Grace was presented with tokens of gratitude and love. He was presented with a silver travel icon for his rigorous schedule. A commemorative gold coin was given as a sign of the esteem in which he is held. Lastly, the faithful presented a DDB contribution.
One visitor observed that His Grace sought out and spent time with each and everyone present. Another parishioner noted that Bishop Michael is someone who goes ahead and follows the Lord, and he calls to and encourages the flock, the people, to walk the same way. Yet another member said that it was the first time that she had the joy of PASCHA in the midst of the Great Lent!
