On Friday, 17 November 2017, a “Healing Service” was served at Saint Basil’s Orthodox Church in Watervliet NY. This was a parish effort of outreach and evangelism; the continuing duty of our church of missionary work to the local community, to family, and friends of parishioners.  After a welcoming sermon, everyone was anointed with oil from the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.

Visitors received a New Testament and the pamphlet “What on Earth is the Orthodox Church?” Orthodox participants received a brochure of prayers for various occasions. After the service all enjoyed fellowship and refreshments in the Church Center.

“We hope and pray that our humble efforts will bear fruit as we work to cultivate and grow the Lord’s vineyard,” said Father Peter Olsen (parish rector).
