At Saturday evening vespers His Eminence enlightened those present of the glorification of Matushka Olga of Alaska. His informative words explained the process of glorification by the OCA's Holy Synod of Bishops. A light Lenten meal was served afterwards.
On Sunday morning before the Hierarchical Liturgy began, the Parish Council President, Martin Napierski, greeted Vladyka with the traditional bread and salt, followed by the presentation of the cross by Parish Rector, Archpriest John P. Hutnyan. After the vesting of His Eminence, the tonsuring of parishioner John Truett to Reader took place. During the Small Entrance, Father John was honored with the Palitsa award.
At the conclusion of the Hierarchical Liturgy, a Gramota was awarded by Vladyka to Vic and Karen Gadzik, and Aubriella Rodriguez. Vic and Karen received this award for their extensive work in the parish rectory and the church, which they have been doing for years. Aubriella (10 years old), received this award for her dedication and love for her church by creating her own fundraiser of making and selling her designs of beaded bracelets, necklaces, and book markers, with a profit of nearly $400. Sales are still continuing, and she is donating all sales income to the church for repairs.
A luncheon was enjoyed by all in the Fellowship Hall. His Eminence ended the day sitting down with catechumens and newly chrismated members of the parish with an enjoyable “Questions and Answers” session.
